Resume Writing Workshop

Daily, I've seen patrons working on resumes and applying for jobs. Many didn't know where to start and seemed overwhelmed by the whole process. With that in mind, I decided to offer a resume writing workshop. Using materials from a YA resume building class offered at other branches, I developed the curriculum, put together hand outs, and crafted a PowerPoint presentation.

Unfortunately, both days of the program attendance was nil. Through the disappointment, I attempted to understand what could be improved for future program offerings. It seemed to me that planning ahead may not be reasonable for many patrons, so asking for registration may have been a deterrent. I offered the program once in the morning and once in the evening, but the days and times still might not have been right for patrons.

I endeavored to offer the programs again with optimism and patience while recognizing that the materials I prepared are not wasted. Patrons creating resumes outside of the workshop times can use what I've made in the process of drafting and finalizing their resumes.
